Trip to China

Hi everyone - I'm getting ready for my trip to China. It is very exciting and I hope that I will be able to blog from China to let you know how I am doing and also to let you see a photo or two of my travels.
I have all my reservations, my passport, my visa and everything that I think I need. Since our first stop (after leaving NYC) is Tokyo, I have ordered some Japanese yen. You cannot get currency for mainland China before you get there. Luckily we are traveling with Pacific Delights Tours and someone will meet us at the Beijing airport when we get ther and take us to the hotel. There, I understand, I can change money.
I'm taking this trip mainly because I want to see the baby pandas which I will do in Chengdu at the end of the trip. I have never been to Asia before so I don't know what to expect. Stay tuned for my experience.

Conneaut Lake Arts Fair

This weekend I am off to Conneaut Lake, about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh. I am looking forward to going up there to be a part of their Ats Fair. I have not been up to Conneaut since I was a child but have many fond memories of the area. If you are in the area, please come and visit me and see my jewelry. I will give a 10% discount to you if you mention that you saw this on my blogspot blog or print out the blog.

My summer season is coming to a close with my last show being at The Union Project in the Highland Park section of Pittsburgh on September 5, 2009. It has been an interesting season in which I have met so many wonderful people and learned so much. I will be going on vacation in September to China and will be blogging from there - so follow my trip to China starting on September 10th. In the mean time, come see me at one of my shows.

Back from Erie

I just got back from a very soggy Erie, Pa. I enjoyed the show even with the rain. It is so nice doing shows where you meet new and interesting people. I think that is why I enjoy doing shows - besides hopefully making money.

I have not been doing shows very long but I have enjoyed my experiences very much. Each show is different and I learn something different from each one. The show at The Southside works was awesome in part because I saw so many people that I have known in "previous lives"- ex-students,ex-colleagues, ex-student's parents, etc. In addition, I made a little money which is always a good thing.

In Erie, I met new people and learned to always bring a second pair of shoes with you. The wind and rain definitely impacted the show but the other vendors were interesting, the food was good (assuming you like vendor food -which I do!), and the patrons were upbeat. I am planning to go back up to Erie in the nice weather to walk the beach and look for sea glass. I would like to work with more found objects in my jewelry.

It will be nice to have next weekend off and then it is on to Irwin for Heritage days. See you next post.
